Cate Nelson is an artist living and working in Petaluma, California. She received her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has exhibited in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Recent solo shows include Magic Shop Gallery (Petaluma) and Fourth Wall Gallery (Oakland) and group shows include The SFMOMA Artist’s Gallery (San Francisco) and Last Projects (Los Angeles). Cate has received several grants and awards including a grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation, an Alternative Exposure grant from Southern Exposure and an Affiliate Artist Residency award at Headlands Center for the Arts in addition to being a finalist for the Headlands Tournesol Award. She was recently nominated for a SECA award. Nelson’s work is in private collections both nationally and abroad.

In addition to her art practice, Cate has also been involved in several special projects including The Painting Salon.
